Derby DaysDerby Days is Sigma Chi's primary philanthropy event in which sororities compete during events throughout a week in order to win points and be crowned Derby Days Champion. The Delta Pi Chapter brought this event back to Ohio University in 2015 and raised $5,000 in its first year back and have set a goal to raise $20,000 in 2016.
Huntsman Cancer InstituteIn 2015, Sigma Chi made a historic pledge to raise $10 million dollars for the Huntsman Cancer Hospital within the next 7 years. This pledge has grown out of an announcement made at the Sigma Chi 150th celebration, where the Huntsman Cancer Foundation (HCF) was made the historical fraternity's national charity of choice. Since 2005 Sigma Chi chapters from across the nation have stepped up to join Jon M. Huntsman to eradicate cancer by raising over $3 million dollars. Active collegiate and alumni chapters hold events in their area and direct the proceeds to HCF, which supports cancer research at Huntsman Cancer Institute.
